The Russian VSR Camouflage Pattern emerged in 1991. By 1994 it was the standard issue camouflage pattern for most ground units of the Russian Armed Forces. Its usage began to decline in 1998 with the emergence of the "Flora" Pattern. Russian VSR is a three-color camouflage pattern consisting of vertically aligned irregular shapes in two darker colors over a lighter colored field.
