Edge buildup is the accumulation of paint or coating along the edges of the stencils. This can be especially visible once the stencils are removed. Edge build up can be unsightly and often frustrating for the applicator. Avoiding edges is a simple as applying less product. Ensure you have a well laid base coat. We call this the "protectant coat". With a solid base coat in place, the rest is purely cosmetic. All additional colors only need to be applied thick enough to "cosmetically cover the previous color. With this approach, you can spray light coats for each subsequent color after the application of stencils and prevent or severely limit edge buildup.
